6-The director-

Hi my name is Robert Rodriguez, I am the director of the movie, 'Shark boy and Lava girl'. I have a very creative job, I organise the crew, the props we'll be using, the scenery and the most important job to turn the vison of this movie into reality.

Just recently the movie aired, it was a hit, kids of all ages wanted to see it, that was important but we also have to think about the results of the many critics that may critque our movie, over all we were happy with our rating which we received, it was overall most popular kids movie for 3 whole weeks! We were over the moon! But behind this was the ups and downs of the creation of the movie.

The things I like about my job were that:
-I got to put forward ideas to everyone.
-Help people out.
-Oversee what people did
-And most of all be named the director of the movie.

The things that I didn't like about my job were:
-Having to be the first on set.
-Having people complain to me during the process
-Arguing with the crew on what we should do when there is a disagreement.

The favourite parts of the movie for me was the time when they were at the ice kingdom and trying to get the Crystal Heart, it was adrenalin pumping and was greatly animated and full of 3D action thanks to the crews at the Special effects department, and the Editing department.

The reasons why I think the kids enjoyed this would be because of many factors, including: 3D effects, vibrant colour, encorporation what kids like (e.g. sweets) and a whole lot of adventure, when all of these are combined and fused together you get a kids box office hit!

Some behind the scenes drama included the rumour going around that Taylor Dooley (Lava girl) and Taylor Lautner (Shark boy) had crushes on each other! they were all shocked to here this but the rest of the crew just played along.


During the course of filming, we had minor mishaps along the way concerning only a select few of departments, these mishaps were because we weren't able to fund enough money for the movie to run, but eventually we did, because one of our Producers were able to get more money to fund for it.

The movie was a great success for our crew and for everyone else who helped out, from everyone in crew, the behind the scenes team, the actors, producers everyone for making this movie a huge success!

5- The producer

Hi my name is Elizabeth Avellan and I am one of the producers for the movie which we are creating. As a producer my job is to: deal with money, ideas and organisation. And has the original idea of the production.

The things I like about my Job as a producer include:
-I get to put my ideas forward.
-I get a say in what happens during the process of the movie.

Things that I don't like about the movie include:
-Having to fund for the movie
-Having to go to the set every single day and being one of the first ones to get there

The favourite parts of the movie for me include when the heroes are getting chased through the land of milk and cookies, it is funny and it is every kids dream to roam through a land of sweets! The Ausience may like this movie because it will lighten up your mood, help you follow your dreams no matter what and it also gives great life lessons too.

During the filming of the movie each and everyone of the crew had to be at there allocated spots and they had to be working almost 24 hours a day! Everyone would be flat out tired and exhausted! But the ones I felt sorry most for were the actors, they were the ones always getting told what to do and they weren't able to have their say.

A problem that arose was our budget we were way over our budget and we were almost forced to cut the filming for a while but I was able to fork out more money and I was able to help fund for the movie again.

Its only a few days till the movie airs and everyones work it put to the test by the critics! Hopefully we'll do fine!

Hey my name is John McCleod, I am the special effects coordinator of the movie 'Shark boy and Lava girl' I'm also a Pyrotechnics expert.

During my job as a special effects coordinator, I have to work on the computers which makes my job very behind the scenes, I also develop the special effects that are shown during the course of the movie such as: Blue screen, the explosions, computer animation and also 3D affects. The things that I like about my job is that I get to play around with special effects and computers and I get to discover new things. What I dislike is, the special effects department isn't always recognised by the others. My favourite parts of the movie are when the 3D effects kick in it is great! The reasons I believe that the audience will like this movie is the 3D effects hands down, they make the movie fun, and lively. There hasn't been any incidence the past few weeks and if there were any, I am sure we would've resolved them.

Today I start my day of work at my office looking through the current scenes which have been filmed, today I have to start adding the special effects to the movie, I then have to send it over to the editing department so that they approve of it and start editing through it, then add it to the whole movie.

In this movie we are only adding 3D effects, they appear in the movie, often, but can only be seen with the use of 3D glasses. They appear in the movie briefly during explosions, when things are being thrown at you and when something is coming to you, though these happen at the briefest of times it still sends a jolt of adrenalin down your spine.This is what happens during my time on the set.

In the movie, many things pop up and shock you, due to the 3D effects. I added this so that the viewers which are the under 12's they would get a shock, but not enough to scare them. They appear at the times in which you don't expect during the movie and add a lot of fun to the movie.



I'm not always on set everyday though, most of the time I spend is at my home office doing the effects there, but only on urgent calls and emergencies will I be called to the studio to have a talk with the editing crew or have a meeting with Robert Rodriguez, the director of the movie.



I finish my work on the set at around 8pm, I sign out and I am on my way home.

3-The Nemesis actor-'Linus/Minus'

Jacob Davich

I am Jacob Davich and I play the big bad person of the fim 'Sharkboy and Lavagirl' I play a boy named Linus who is the arch nemesis of Max at school and he is also the arch nemesis of Max in planet drool named Minus.

The things that I like about my character is that I am the bad guy, I've never been the bad guy before, something I don't like about it is the fact that now
I am seen as the potencial bad boy now! My favourite parts of the movie are when Max and Minus have the huge fight! The reasons why I think kids will like this movie are because it is fun and has a lot off colour and vibrance that attracts kids to it. There hasn't been any recent mishaps during the filming though, it has become pretty stressing since we're coming nere to the end of filming!

Today I met up with the other young actors, who would play the main characters. Today they would start on their parts of the movie as well as helping out the supporting characters to tie the whole thing together. I woul play the Antagonist and I would have to be cruel and mean to the other characters, but it would be hard for me since they've become really close friends, especially the fact that I have to bully Cayden! But I pulled it altogether and was becoming more comfortable with my role in the movie.

Then it was dress rehearsals where we had to get into our costumes and try out what we would be doing when we would be filming the whole movie. My costume was very evil, and gave a bad vibe to it. But it suited my character and was very nice. Robert then called us all to a complete dress rehearsal with the whole crew, the lights, the cameras and of course the action that came with it. We all slipped into our costumes and it was off to the set of the school, I was dressed in my clothes as Linus and the rehearsal began, scene after scene we filmed and finally it was my turn again, this time as Minus, I revealed myself to the heroes and followed what my lines had said. Then it went on to the great fight between Minus and Max, it was epic it was full of sound effects, beaming lights and sound effects it was great fun.

Finally the day was over we ended at around 9pm and we were all sent home, anticipating the days to come.

2-The Super hero actor-'Lava girl'

 Hi my name is Taylor Dooley and I played Lava girl I am the heroine of the movie. Somethings I like about the movie is my role I am really happy with my role, something I dislike is the times we have to start work, then we have to cram it in with school and homework aswell! My favourite part of the movie was when I was reborn as light and showed all my powers. I believe the viewers would enjoy it would be because of the 3D effects that will get them our of their seat! There hadn't been any behind the scene dramas so far and it has all been great.

One day I got a call from Robert Rodriguez the director of the movie I auditioned for, I was so excited, he called me to tell me I got the job!I was ecstatic and over the moon, my first ever movie.

I arrived at 10am the next day, I was welcomed by Robert and was brought into his trailer with two other actors two boys, Taylor, and Cayden they seemed nice.

Robert told us of our roles that we would play in the movie which would become a hit called 'Shark boy and Lava girl', he then told us the roles which we would be playing, and the winner of the role as Lava girl would obvious be me unless it would've been one of the boys! Taylor would be Shark boy and Cayden would be the main character Max. He then told us that we would need to work really hard, and work together as a team.

The director then handed us our scripts and sent us off to learn our lines, I thought to myself,'wow how on earth are we going to learn all this?!'I thought it would be crazy, but I actually learned it quite fast, but I didn't know about the others!

After that we walked around the set, we introduced ourselves with everyone around the set and were soon acquainted with everyone. Robert then called everyone to the centre of the set and made a short speech, on what we would be doing during the course of the filming, he then sent us to continue with our duties, which would be to perfect our lines and what we would be doing during the filming of the movie. The day ended at 9pm it was late and we were all worn out, we then all anticipated what would the rest of the time be like for the rest of the rehearsals?

1-The costume designer-
 Hi, my name is Nina Proctor and I am the costume designer for the movie Sharkboy and Lavagirl, I am the one that creates the costumes of the characters on the big screen. The director of the movie; Robert Rodriguez, has given me the task to start thinking up ideas for the costumes of the characters! Especially since the main critic of the costumes will be the kids!

Things that I like about my role in the movie is that I get to create and show off my own works on the big screen, something I dislike about it is that I get such a late notice to when I have to start designing.

The favourite bits of the movie are when Shark boy and Lava girl appear and show off my Marvelous pieces of art, because it doesn't only promote the movie but it also promotes me.

The reasons why I believe the young ones will enjoy this movie is because this movie is jam packed with the things that kids love, they love adventure, mystery, sweets, games and most of all fun!

I'm not supposed to say this but I heard that the director had a go at the editing team during the filming due to a mistake they made which they had to resovle in less than 24 hours which was a deadline that we had to meet. Apart from this problem there hasn't been many others.



Cayden Boyd (Max)



The costumes have to be uber funk and out there, but also look great and reflect on the personality of the character and how they may be during the course of the movie. Most of the costumes are simple and are easy to make, for Max (Cayden Boyd), he is supposed to look like a normal suburban boy that lives a normal life, he's clothing is simple and reflects how he's personality is.

For one of the super heroes, Sharkboy (Taylor Lautner), he's costume is very complex and requires a lot of of material, my plan of he's constume consists of a grey wetsuit with a dorsal fin attached and gills on the sides, gloves with claws on them, grey shoes that resemble sharks and fake teeth similar to a sharks teeth.

Another super hero, the heroine of the story, Lava girl (Taylor Dooley) as it says in her name she has something to do with lava. Her costume i have only just started planning for it, it is a pink latex suit that has burn-out holes to look like short melting volcanoes, and melting hot-spots all over it, she will wear a pink wig that looks like pink flames and burning streams of lava that look like veins which strech over her body.

The costumes that are required for this movie were challenging, but I got through it. I personally think I did a great job on it and hopefully I'll get commended for my work.
